Site Allocation
As part of the new Local Plan, five strategic locations have been identified for housing growth around the edges of Brize Norton and Carterton. Foxbury Garden Community falls within Strategic Location: Area F (see Regulation 18 Local Plan to the left), situated to the north of Brize Norton and Carterton. The site has an indicative capacity of 1,500–2,500 homes and is proposed for residential development. It should be designed as a standalone community, carefully planned to include essential infrastructure and local facilities that will support future residents.
Strategic residential-led development
- Delivering up to 2,500 homes, in line with the local plan
- Two residential neighbourhoods, each with accessible neighbourhood hubs
- New sustainable community, separate from Brize Norton and Carterton
- Accessible from the A40, a strategic growth corridor between Oxford and Carterton
Sustainable transport and infrastructure
- Promoting active transport and providing mobility (transport) hubs, that offer sustainable travel opportunities and connections to regional and local bus services
- Land to the south of the site has been safeguarded for the Carterton - Witney - Oxford Railway Corridor, a long term infrastructure project which would support strategic growth in Carterton
Environmental protection and landscape enhancement
- The Cotswolds National Landscape lies to the north of the site, beyond an intervening ridge of land with tree cover. This provides physical and visual separation, protecting the Cotswolds
- Significant areas of the site would be designated as green open space
- Expansive areas for recreation, play, and high-quality walking and cycling routes
- Enhanced landscaping will support habitats throughout the site
